love is here to stay

Moons ago, at the cusp of November, as trees had nearly fully gilded and leaves had begun dancing their golden farewells, our inestimably talented friends Levi and Victoria took engagement pictures for us. They followed us around Vancouver, capturing us in our beloved spots. When we received them, shortly after, we were awed by the phenomenal work they did-- how skilled they are at their craft.

These pictures tell a story of what it means to be us, in this precious season of our lives -the city backdrop of our life together, the way we are with each other, the places we visit often, the way our days together unfold.

We ducked into our favourite coffeehouses in Gastown, ambled its cobblestone streets and alleyways, stood hand in hand on a downtown rooftop where we took in a view of the skyline, explored my neighbourhood's streets, walked hand in hand amidst trees ablaze with fiery leaves of crimson and amber and marigold. It was a magical afternoon and such a delight to experience it with some of our closest friends. That part was just the icing on the cake!

I look at these pictures and think to myself, I am so happy we are each other's.

Too, I am so grateful for this engagement season we are in. We do, periodically, find ourselves overwhelmed or burdened by the uncertainties and question marks of these strange times. But then we remind each other that, at the tail end of spring, we'll be one. And that gentle reminder gives me such peace and joy--and a rather large sum of giddiness too!

There is something so special and meaningful--something mere words can't quite convey - about these snapshots of me and my one, in the city we call home.

While our wedding pictures will capture us living through the most important day of our lives, these engagement pictures capture the marrow of our everyday, which ultimately is the most important of all.

We will cherish them forever.

All this to say: love is here to stay.

Thank you, again, to Levi and Victoria for these beautiful keepsakes. There are no words to adequately express our gratitude!

I love thèse pictures and they are an encouragement as you two are planning a wedding in difficult times. These pictures remind us that the most important thing is becoming one before God, and committing to one another for life, no matter the constraints and blessings of the wedding day! But then again, we are trusting that it’s gonna be great! Papa
